Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Supreme Court, comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna, M M Sundresh, and Bela Trivedin, declined to entertain a direct appeal from JMM leader Champai Soren regarding his bail plea. SC said if it permits one to come to SC directly in such matters then it would have to permit everyone to do so.
The SC bench insisted that Soren's bail petition must be moved before the Jharkhand HC, which is also a constitutional court accessible to everyone.
Meanwhile, JMM legislative party leader Champai Soren will take oath as the Jharkhand chief minister on Friday after Governor C P Radhakrishnan nominated him for the post, officials said.
The oath-taking ceremony will be held around 12.15 pm at the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan here, they said.
